The Indonesian government is currently considering stricter regulations regarding TikTok Shop, following the rapid growth of this social media platform in the country. However, in this context, Sandiaga Uno, the former Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta who is known as a successful entrepreneur, expressed a favorable view towards the continuation of TikTok Shop in Indonesia.

According to Sandiaga Uno, TikTok has become a very important tool for MSME players to develop their business. On various occasions, both at the local and national levels, Sandiaga has encouraged MSMEs to utilize social media, including TikTok, as a tool to expand their reach and increase sales.
One of the points emphasized by Sandiaga is the potential impact of major disruption if TikTok Shop is completely banned in Indonesia. He reminded that TikTok users in Indonesia have reached more than 100 million people. Therefore, a total ban could produce too big an effect and affect the digital ecosystem that has been firmly established.
Sandiaga Uno Prioritize of MSMEs
Sandiaga Uno believes that the regulations currently being drafted should prioritize the interests of MSMEs and support Indonesia’s economic growth. He hopes that the regulation will be designed in such a way that it does not harm small and medium businesses, but rather provides support in facing increasingly fierce competition, especially from imported products.
